In Chapter 6, Simona pulled out a camera, and since then filming, photos, videos, and telescopes have become an integral part of my work.
Normally it works like this: I decide that the character x takes a picture. I point the object that takes the photo (cell phone, camera, telephoto lens, bb8), put a camera in it and render.
The file thus created is integrated into the texture of the object taking the photo (if it has a screen) or set aside to be used in later chapters (to be projected, or sent via whatsapp in a conversation, for example).
So on my PC I have all these rendered files of various scenes, which the audience could never see at full screen.
Yesterday I was looking at them, and I felt a bit like when you look at pictures from when you were sixteen, and you wore your hair in a ponytail. You look now and you wonder how could you walk around like that. Now I look at those pictures and I'm like, "how could I publish renderings without shadows?" or "oh my God, he looks like a mannequin."
It's interesting though, at least for me, to see how an evolution actually took place over the years, and how today I think my characters are much more realistic than they were then.
If I get older and go crazy, I would consider redoing all the old chapters with today's graphics, to give more uniformity to the whole thing. But I'm not crazy yet.
That said, I thought maybe the photos might interest you too, so I uploaded them to the gallery section of the menu.

Don't do it -- don't "get older and go crazy and go back and renovate your older work to make them conform to your newer styles of animation finesse" -- please don't!
RispondiEliminaI wish more of your fans would agree with me, but i seriously prefer the previous versions of your Simona and Lucia to their modern counterparts... beginning from your main storyline Ch 8 Revelations, then Ch 11 X-Party, next Ch 14 Getting Even, through to Ch 17 Trying Again where the current version of Simona is conceived.
Hi! Could you elaborate on that?
EliminaWhat do you prefer the old versions of the characters to the new ones?
The male characters are the only ones that have actually changed over time. Simona had a slight makeover in Chapter 4, and then just a hairdo change. Lucia is exactly the same from chapter 5.
In some chapters they had a different trick, okay, but the models, on a polygonal level, have been exactly the same for years.
The only thing I changed is the lighting method, implementing more realistic lighting routines, that my old pc would have exploded trying to calculate.
In what do you prefer, to say, the Simona of chapter 4 to that of chapter 29? I'm curious.
